after watching the mandalorian last week, the wife and i decided to start at the beginning of the star wars movies and watch them in order. i’m amazed that the phantom menace is even worse than i remembered it. i have no idea how that movie got made, 0/10 isn’t a low enough score for that shit-fest. the plot, characters, acting, everything was beyond awful. and i’m not even a crazy star wars fan.

Watched Inception last night (just added to Netflix). Still find it borderline incoherent (much of the dialogue is utterly pointless) but fuck me if it doesn’t look amazing.

Inception and Tenet both suffer from too much exposition. Both films have huge blocks of the movie where characters just explain the movie to the audience.

Soul (8/10) - Extremely thought provoking. It was very experimental for a Disney film and pulled at the heartstrings. Enjoyed Tina Fey’s voice as 22. This film cuts deep.

The Shallows (6/10) - Earns points with the slow dip into the ‘‘horror elements’. There are some moments which are absolutely ridiculous. Kept me on the edge of my seat in the beginning. Awful ending.

watched attack of the clones yesterday. a solid 3/10, improving through the subtraction of jar jar. the story is thin, the actor who plays anikin is wooden beyond reason, character motivations barely make sense half the time, the battle scenes are way too long. i’m still wondering how these movies got made. onto the third one tonight, i have low expectations.
