Just finished watching the Godfather with the missus, her first time seeing it, blew her socks off. Part 2 lined up for tomorrow night. That was cool to watch it with someone who hadn’t seen it before, makes you realise just how good it is and how bad most contemporary stuff is.

Bouth both Godfathers on blu ray awhile back, still not gotten around to watching them again. Only seen both once, and that was in the 90s. So about time for a rewatch. Loved them then, doubt that’s changed. Hated the third naturally.

Anyone tried the recut version of part 3? Allegedly much better, but they surely can’t have cut Sofia Coppola from it completely??

Along_the_Wire I agree. It’s not as bad as some make out, but Sofia Coppola is just awful in it. Decent performance from another actor wouldn’t have saved the film, but I’d have enjoyed it more.

Yeah, 2 was tough to follow - but 2 followed 1, which was excellent itself…

My understanding was that the part was meant for someone else (Winona Ryder maybe), then due to schedule conflict Sofia Coppola was a panic replacement, rather than nepotism. I think I read that in Empire when they interviewed Francis Coppola about the new cut.

I dont think 3 is let down by the fact that the other 2 were so good, for me its just such a bad quality picture, its like a B movie with a budget of 800 quid. Dragging the arse out of the story in the worst possible way.

Yeah I’ve been hesitant to watch as I’ve been an emotional wreck lately with movies. No idea why. Maybe just a long, stressful 12 months (Covid, and beyond Covid). I was getting choked up at the end of Ford V. Ferrari, for fucks sake. Utter shambles. I don’t think I can handle anything too serious.

My boy put on Call of The Wild (Harrison Ford) the other night and I thought this is going to be awful, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great kids film.
