Along_the_Wire I dunno, I mean, yeah, I guess the Transformers flicks do gangbusters so that’s part of it but we’re not talking a billion (no mean feat that only, what, 30 flicks or so have ever done), we’re potentially talking something close to 2 billion which is insane. That’s top 3 ever league. That’s people going to see it 3,4,5 times and the flick dragging people out for their one trip a year to the flicks kind of money.
There’s not much else on at the flicks at the moment, people are off work and looking for shit to do, it’s fairly kid friendly so it’s open to the four quadrants. It’s simplistic so no one is leaving the flicks baffled. despite the competition it’s still kind of the only one of it’s kind and looks amazing. I think the 13 year gap may have actually worked in it’s favour. It’s long enough to forget the previous one was average at best. (If they release Avatar 3 in 2 years or so, I wonder if that will make a difference - I’m not sure I’ll bother with Avatar 3)
