Henry thanks, i’m really happy you like it. it starts in a very familiar place and almost ends there too, but that middle section was the part i really enjoyed writing. i borrowed heavily from maurizio for most of those records, starting almost every one with a kick and bass groove and building around that. i wanted to use technique to tie together tracks from across a spectrum and it seems like it translated pretty well.
and i totally agree with the genre being too confined. i submitted green willow to a couple of labels last year and was told it wasn’t dubby enough. that’s one of the reasons i keep releasing with markus, as i don’t feel pressured to keep writing the same track over and over. the last month or so, all i’m doing is listening to new stuff looking for inspiration and a ‘new’ sound to grab onto. so far the pole albums (1,2, and 3) have my attention, i love the minimal aspect to it and that might be a good challenge for me.
