Did the Mallorca 225 today. Massive crash ahead and the road closed and sadly I think someone died.

My moving time for the 225 was 9 hours 9 mins. Prevous PB moving was 10 hours 6 minutes.

Pretty happy with that. Absolutely cooked though

Hursty it’s moving time. Overall was 10:35 but we were held for 20 mins a. Plus I got a puncture. Plus I had a moment at 190km where I nearly lost my mind. Pretty chuffed with that though. Will aim to shave 30 mins off for next year by training harder.

Along_the_Wire In 2018 I did the whole 312. I was about the same pace this year but no fucking way I could turn off the course with 5km to go to add another 90km. i was cooked. Once I got my mojo back after nearly losing my shit at 190km I was leading out at 45kph in the final kms at 4w/kg. I’m paying for that today.

I’ve been training hard on Rouvy doing sections of the course and it has paid off. Lost a few kg and been training really hard to keep muscle and power the same. My mate who I have been cycling with for 10 years could not believe I was dropping him on hills but he dragged me through the last 30km. Great ride. 225km is a nice all dayer. Good for a 0630 start and back home at a sensible time

benson Nice one mate. Long journey back for me after my shoulder replacement. Did 122km today and went hard on the climbs - did Box Hill on 6:30 - well off my best, but a good time nonetheless.

Just entered my first cat 4. Closed circuit event just behind where I live. I’m easily FTPing over 3 w /kg which is not grandad Granto levels but not a bad start. My only problem is that I am on holday for a week, it’s in 2 weeks, and I have just woken up after 3 hours sleep and am still definitely not legal to drive (not that i would anyway on holiday). Training starts tomorrow

benson my top tip is to stay as near to the front as possible - don’t slip beyond 10th wheel for too long - risk of crashes further back are very real and horrible. 4th (and a lot of 3rd) cat races have inexperienced and / or stupid riders. It’s largely an easy race sat in wheels - avoid the front like the plague unless there’s a group trying to chase down a break. Train your sprint.

Getting in the break is hard as nails, but some buzz.

Mind you I am used to goup riding and had it not been for groups and me bridging gaos I would have finished the Mallorca 225 abotu 30 mins slower. I can do that riding

benson it’s way different to group rides, lots of riders are competing to be at the front for starters. Just take my advice and stay up the front!

Good luck, they are pretty hairy as Grant has mentioned. Done a few in my time and there have always been crashes but they are immense fun if you have the engine to stay up front and get a top 10.

Hursty Yup. Dalton airfield which is out the back of my house (and where they filmed masters of the air).

Elbows out seems to be the advice. Get stuck inIt s a 40 min crit blast a 90 min crit race and an ITT all in 1

I’m sufficiently dialled into normality to get that MC is not loving the power to weight chat. I’ll be checking my stats in THE LOUNGE on the ay back from holiday t imake sure I am in THE ZONE
