What about muddy roads, roads full of potholes and roads with a steep gradient?
Cycle Drivel
Mad_Cyril How muddy are the roads and how big are the potholes? I commute on roads in town that are right state and I do that on a road bike.

Was, somewhat poorly, commenting on the appearance of niche distinctions as a way to extract dough from middle class pockets.
The gravel bike / MTB debate is only really applicable to serious users who’d appreciate the distinction.
Millsy might as well buy a hybrid with a nice basket, like mine, which will cover 98% of his ‘use cases’.
You can always swap the tyres if need be.
Spend the time saved putting together some decent chug, which has been so lacking of late that Eddie is considering getting the ‘sends me to sleep’ key on his adapted keyboard replaced
I’ve already got a hybrid GT. It’s absolute dogshit but does work out my calves and glutes to the size of Fatima Whitbread’s.
Anyone on the Strade Bianche? Brilliant race.
VDP is a beast

What a sprint at the end.
Always had GTs when I was a teenager.
Outback and a Timberline. Great bikes.
That’s my input, cheers for asking.
Fabulous Dave, so keep us posted of future developments
I don’t really cycle anymore.
Cheers.
bosstrabs I didn’t til I was 41, so never give up, Dave.
Hursty I think the Zaskar was probably out of my price range.
The Outpost, Outback and Timberline were the entry-level GTs IIRC, about £300-£500, which was quite a lot in those days.
Anything more and you were literally asking to get it robbed in Warrington, even if you kept it locked in the shed the cunts would break in for something like that.
Watching the Paris to Nice road race and was wondering how fast they ride on the straight roads.
Dubman a flat road race would typically be 44-48kmh, but they can go fucking fast in sections of that if chasing down or attacking.
Along_the_Wire
Wow. That’s well fast. What speed would you ride at. My first motorbike only done 30mph.
Dubman On a flat course with light wind, I can do a 10m TTs at 30/31mph and 25m TTs about 28/29mph
A flat road race or crit at about 27mph. I did RideLondon at just over 25mph for 100 miles in 2016 - there’s about 1,200m of climbing in that though.
Feel filthy talking about cycling in imperial measures.
Along_the_Wire
That’s well impressive. There’s no way I could reach those speeds even going down a trail section.
