Absolutely magnificent couple of days in Mallorca. 130km down. Cheeky 70 tomorrow and a 200+ on Thursday.

No broccoli in sight.

I am in port d’andratx. Full of impossibly beautiful people.

Obvs I’m kitchen sinking it in an Italian restaurant that even has red abd white check tablecloths.

Oh and tubeless is amazing. Hutchinson fusiob5 25s but on a run that is 32 wide.

Tubeless has been effortless and riding at 80psi is so much more comfortable.

Disc brakes and tubeless on carbon wheels. Living the dream.

Got the same setup on my MTB only I run mine at about 22psi

I’ve got discs on me hybrid lads, am I hardcore now?

benson cycling isn’t meant to be comfortable, Benson. Tubeless is way too much faff for road bikes - spend your money on expensive tubes like SuperSonics, latex or those horrible orange things.

What are you PBs up Puig Major and Sa Calobra?!

Puig Major (Tunel Monnaber) - 57:36

Sa Calobra - Coll dels Reis (official) - 47:21

Not Grant times but good nonetheless. Hitting Both on Thursday

TL have been zero faff on the road bike. Way less faff than fucking around at the side of the road with a flat

          It’s the changing tyres bit

Nice one on the times - grab a copy of Cyclist is you can - got a feature on Sa Calobra - I love that climb, so beautiful and just the sort of gradients I can hammer - anything more and I struggle like fuck. Enjoy mate.

Took 2 mins to change. First time I did it was a faff. These ones went on abd not lost a single psi. Muc off sealant seems to be way better than stans. Zero leakage.

Have to say that I am feeling it a bit after yesterday’s 100.km. Plus a load of beers and pizza! Getting back out there today may be a little tough but it’ll be worth it!

Only managed 178km yesterday. Seem to have double threaded my thru axle and have a wobbly back wheel. Plus I am bang out of shape. 370km for the week in Mallorca.

Pulled a benson at the top of sa calobra. But still a beautoiful week in the sun

You didn’t do the climb?! Criminal!

I might take a wee look at it for the posh bikes.

Honestly I feel so muche more secure on a long ride with tubeless.

Yeah the Sa Calobra thing is criminal but we had just doen puig major and my mate was doing really well so I didn;t want to leave him and also the wobbly back wheel thing was giving me the heeby jeebies. The rear derailleur hanger was loose and all sorts of stuff that I should have sorted. But 370km in 4 days and 178 in one day is still a good record

Cheeky weekend in mallorca later in the year to rectify the SC thing will be fine

benson Nice work all the same, Benno. I shall investigate tubeless. So you just need gas when you head out on a ride?

Yup. I take sone glue less patches in case I get a big tear. You can take a single inner as a proper get out jail card.

I’ve had one puncture on the commuter and it self sealed and I carried on.

Couple of gas canisters and a pump just in case for real emergencies. Hutchinson fusion5 performance with 50ml muc off sealant went straight on. May need to use a co2 to initially set the tyre on the rim. I brought a compression canister which is quite useful. Rides like a dream.

                5 days later

Any road bike recommendations for a fat bastard looking to lose some timber?

I’m after something reasonably comfortable for long rides (ooh err)

Sonder Camino or Colibri is a good start.

Have you considered an e-bike? Makes getting out more enjoyable and still gets you fitter
