I like what BA have down with their re-furbished 777s and American have massively upped their game after being absolutely dreadful. I always fly One World where I can for miles and tier points - thank fuck BA and American have upped their game heading west - Qatar and Malaysia heading east.
If it’s Jim Boeing I ain’t going
Along_the_Wire for me leg room important for long haul, as I genuinely stick my headphones in and listen to music for most of it, so not fussed about noise and any other comforts.
Would stay clear of AA as we had a shocker on the way back from Vegas a few years back. Thought we were on BA but it was an AA plane. Me and the missus had 5% battery each, no place to charge phones and no in seat entertainment. That was a long and painful flight!
I should prob look into it more as we fly to SA most years which is overnight, so a better plane would help the journey.
RichM Me and the missus had 5%
Absolute schoolboy stuff there regardless of carrier.
Along_the_Wire Yeah, AA are my best of a bad bunch of the US carriers. Used to be Delta, but they’ve dropped off in recent years, and the less said about United the better.
I’m fortunate that Virgin fly to the vast majority of US cities I tend to need to visit for work or fun, and I’ll always fly with them ahead of BA and AA…
vinnyt77 I hate Virgin - they always stop serving alcohol half way over (or even earlier). Really winds me up, even in business.
Along_the_Wire Really!? Never experienced that - except on a flight out Gatwick to Vegas. Was (sort of) fair enough in that case as there were a couple of stag and hen groups who were causing a right kerfuffle.
When I say always, I mean the three times I’ve used them - to be fair, one was a stag do to Vegas from Gatwick! The other two were NYC, one in business and one in economy.
They’ve also got really shit airline partners in the main so points and status are more difficult to come by
Along_the_Wire learnt a hard lesson there. Had to chat to the missus much more than is ideal, so not made that mistake again
RichM HEADPHONES - FILMS - BOOZE
Along_the_Wire I’ve got a virgin credit card now so aim to hit the vouhcer on both BA and virgin every year. The BA companion voucher is an absolute gamechanger. We will see what the virgin one does. It is not as good I don;t thnk
There is no getting away from the fact that the bar/lounges on the Qatar or Emirates 380s is the ultimate flying experience.
Funnily enough they are always full of wankered Brits too

NasserAlazzawi No toilets. They are tiny. There is a toilet but it it strictly emergency use only. Piss into a bag situation. I am not joking. There is not a lot of room. This is the interior and we too about 4 times that amout of medical kit including a ventilator.
benson Make sure you’re on the Premium Amex for BA - the companion vouchers are only economy otherwise from September
benson there’s a whiff of Epstein about that photo
Along_the_Wire Always have been. The premium vouchers will have a lot more availability after that as well as they are opening up more booking classes in business for them
benson Blow me down, I never knew that
https://thepointsguy.co.uk/guide/ba-amex-companion-voucher-changes-faq/
However, BA has said that from 1 September 2021, Companion Vouchers from the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card will also have access to “I class” award availability.

I take it you don’t fly economy then, as they’ve gone 10-abreast at the back on a lot of the old 777s.
mono-stereo Aye, the 10 abreast 777s are a pretty miserable experience - one of the reasons I avoid them when flying economy. I think BA still have 3-3-3 on a very few of their 777s, but they’re used on routes so interchangeably that I find it’s not worth the risk. Plus - really not a fan of BA’s economy product at the best of times…
I’ve flown 3-4-3 in Economy on a Qatar 777-300ER from Doha to Melbourne, and that was ok, but helped by the fact that we’d slept well on the A380 we flew from Heathrow into Doha…
