I get the apprehension don’t get me wrong, but they’re not building toasters. For a plane to be certified it goes through many more hands and checks than the 1 quality controller working in Renton. Plus once it goes over to the airline they have the best mechanics in the business taking care of the aircraft. Critical systems are handled by the likes of Rolls Royce and GE also. I’m an Airbus fanatic myself, they’ve nailed the balance between comfort and flight systems but Boeing have been around since the year dot and when it comes to aircraft there’s a reason Govts spend billions on their equipment for military use, reliability. Volskwagon were exposed a few years ago for very shady business practices but it wouldn’t stop me getting in a Golf. If Boeing had control of every aspect of certification too, then I’d be wary. Airbus themselves had an issue with the A380 not long after it’s move into service, a flight into Sydney where a part of the wing fell off, they grounded the fleet and carried on once it had been rectified, Boeing have done the same with the Max. There are far too many levels of quality control passed Boeing for it to be a problem for people, the standards are far higher than any other transport industry.
