      had a lot of good times with a lot of people I have met in this journey.

      The old GU board sounds absolute savage.

        Will never happen again. Social media killed the message board for the most part (sans Reddit which isn’t really the same) and no brand would ever let the hijinks that occurred on GU fall under their name. Oddly, it seemed to police itself quite well. But that might be rose-colored memories.

            Dubman Huge influx of people / traffic, at exactly the right place and time regards the internet and dance music. No prisoners where taken. Met a few people in the industry around that time who actually said ’you go on there? Fuck that, it’s mad’ 😆

                Think we’ve all perused the GU/Bedrock/MS forums at some point in our life. Not sure about others, but I did so mostly in hunt of tracklistings. Always found some very knowledgeable (about the music scene) people on all said, previous platforms, so it’s kept me looking out for the new iteration. Seems like there’s some decent people on here to boot, but some of the chat does feel like panto from time to time. Famous 5 minutes etc… lol

                When did the GU board finish?

                Speaking of all this - I’ve been meaning to ask this for years :-

                who is Mate Green ? Is this the same person as Flares? Who was doggy ?

                And not unlinked to these questions where is Dermo -the only other Leeds fan on this board ?

                Doggy owned Hannu and Bedrock, that’s a fact.

                  I kinda cringe a bit at the concept of a “legendary message board” but if such a thing can exists, GU:Life was surely that.

                  Was mental how much traffic there was and massive feuds and arguments. Fadas and Dusted were total legends in my eyes. I think a lot of folk really hero-worshipped Marko in particular. There were several actual serious producers going “what the fuck”, getting shown minimal respect amongst the piss taking, mad dramas & alias wars, but most of the board were pretty clued up and went to a lot of good gigs.

                  If Dermo is a benchmark for users on GU then I can believe anything!

                  2010, really? I have vague memories of going on another forum , possibly GU, but I just discovered Sasha and Digweed and was heavily influenced by my older brother so it was Bedrock all the way for me.

                    The GU board was absolutely immense. Fucking brilliant stuff

                    Dermo’s still there, waiting for them to fix it.

                      As stated above, the traffic was huge. Everybody was lurking, even the big boys.

                      No need to say sorry. I did witness some huge arguments on the old JC & bedrock boards. Dermo was certainly in the thick of it. So was Flares.

                          Dubman take those episodes and multiply them by about 35000. that was the gu board pretty much daily, a complete shit show in the best possible way.
