Fancy party up in Pacific Heights. 50 whatever people, all vaccinated as required for attendance, 28 breakthrough positives. That said, minor symptoms if any. We’re going to continue reporting case counts on the DPH site, but will no longer be releasing summation press releases around case counts. We’re only concerned with hospitalizations moving forward.
Oakland as of a few hours ago is now requiring proof of vaccination to pretty much do anything indoors. San Jose is exploring the same but for boosters - two shots no longer being enough (likely not until February).
Given the tone of the call today, this is not so much concern over Omicron, but rather public health leaders being fed up with the anti-vaxxers - many of us will be stuck working Christmas (and others will be stuck in isolation with little more than the sniffles) because of their selfishness. Tried the educational route, the carrot-on-stick route, seems we might be shifting into the fuck you route. Hey, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Enjoy not being able to do anything. Soft lockdown in Finland for three weeks starting on the 28th. Clubs closed, pubs and restaurants back to limited capacity, and no alcohol after 5 PM. Even with a covid passport. They’re free to decide if they want to ask for a covid passport for the duration of the three weeks.
I’m going to avoid both until two weeks after I’m boosted.
I also believe it will only be three weeks, when the clubs are actually open again.
Bangalore has enforced a night time lockdown and they’re clamping down on the NYE parties.
Covid or not, those NYE parties should be banned anyway.
