IndustryStandard Death rates are lower now due to the age of people now contracting it.

It hasn’t been established that this is the only cause, as far as I’ve seen anyway.

IndustryStandard All age groups mixing together is going to be very risky until a vaccine is found/the virus mutates to a less virulent strain.

The latter part of that could have already happened.

The uptick of cases in Europe appears to have been going on for a few weeks now, with still no sign of the death rates rising above pretty much nothing. Mixing of age groups together will have been already happening as well.

hugopal you reckon the virus is getting less lethal? I’m no medical expert but i’ve read it can mutate into a less harmful strain……..fingers fucking crossed on that point!

Smallman1 Why don’t you get out in nature or something at the weekend? There’s loads of beautiful countryside in the UK, and there’s not really too much concern about social distancing if you’re in a field by yourself!

Regarding the situation here in the US (Hoboken NJ) the adherence to masks is pretty astonishing. People are even wearing them out running. No coincidence new cases here per day are a handful.

Mates back home in London / Kent /Essex relaying if you go out its pretty much no holds barred. Pubs et al packed and token measures at best. No one checking up or enforcing anything. Seems like the trade now is you can go out, carry on as before, help support businesses not to go under but you are risking contracting it big time. Again, if you are 25yrs old probably not as big a deal if you are 55yrs old.

If had a kid/grandkid that I knew was going out, I wouldn’t be having them round for Sunday lunch. Fuck that!

Along_the_Wire why? Hampton Court is about 20 miles away from London. A government planner’s arbitrary designation doesn’t really make it London. Is someone from Croydon also really a Londoner too?

bosstrabs I can’t speak on Croydon’s behalf. Teddington and Hampton are definitely considered South West London. Clapham became part of a London borough at the same time as Hampton and Teddington in 1965, which I genuinely found interesting when I just looked it up
