Does Cummings have a fixed abode? It’s just that every time I see him he looks like a fucking tramp.

Jonattan, are you getting any of these nasty intermittent after effects people are reporting?

LT42 Does Cummings have a fixed abode?

Rather controversially, no, as it happens.

Does no one else think it’s a bit of a coincidence that Big Brother ends and then next summer we’re all trapped in our homes being given tasks by a voice coming out of the TV?

Can’t really say as it hasn’t been too long. Symptoms bubbled up on Wed the 13th of May, took that next day off from work and called the doctor, tested Friday, heard back Saturday. So it’s only been about two weeks (that I’m aware of anyway). Just going off how I feel, I’m thinking this chest issue might linger for a while. But other than that, it’s been okay. No fever. No loose cough. No nausea.

Have to wonder about if what we have here in California is somewhat different from what hit Europe and the US NE. We’ve had it pretty easy for the most part. And I work for the health department in HIV/infectious disease so I get daily updates and am privy to information that doesn’t always go public. We’ve been good. Dunno why. We just haven’t had the death rates other locales have seen. Only 40 deaths in San Francisco (known) so far. And all have been elderly. 2,400 known positives (me!) and the capacity to do 10,000 tests a day.

Some (viruses don’t) like it hot

That should really be moved to the Games thread you know.

I went for a ride last night about 6:30 and it was way beyond what would normally happen on a normal summer’s evening - so many people out in massive groups everywhere.

When did the flimsy lockdown get eased? About a week ago now?

I’m not even going out until I see there’s not a second wave in about a fortnight. Until then, contactless home deliveries for everything.

bosstrabs I’m the same. There will definitely be a second wave now.

I guess pubs, restaurants and sporting events off the cards will make it far less severe though.

What a fucking shitshow we are.

Supermarket stats are out for the 4 weeks up to the 17th May. Alcohol sales up 50% on the same period last year. If that doesn’t make you proud to be British, nothing will.

Apparently, you got the weaker strain due to your proximity to SE Asia. Europe and the UK got a much more virulent (mutated) strain which travelled via Italy and the UK/Europe to the East Coast.

Wore a face mask out for the first time today.

Felt a bit odd but I don’t care, health over wealth and all that jazz.

Numbers back up to 412 today after a few weeks downward trend to 100-ish.

UK nations report latest hospital death tolls
A further 183 people have died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, NHS England has reported.

It brings the total number of hospital deaths in England to 26,049.

Deaths of confirmed coronavirus patients in Scotland’s hospitals rose by 13, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said, making a total of 2,304.

And Public Health Wales said a further 11 people had died after positive tests, bringing the total in Wales to 1,293.

Two more people also died in Northern Ireland, where the death toll now stands at 516.

Reported death tolls in the four nations may differ from the total announced by the UK government later, as they are calculated in a slightly different time-frame, and the UK total includes deaths in care homes and other settings.

            I missed the last paragraph.
