Mad_Cyril benson Did you not get the memo Bens? Covid is SO OVER after 19/07 (not that is was ever real anyway). Now its officially OVER, the big hitters on here are moving back to weightier matters
Old-Dutch Looking like Australia is about to go over the tipping point. They’ve done so well for so long, but it still finds a way.
Hursty Old-Dutch Exactly, you cannot suppress a virus like covid forever, they have to open up eventually, and when they do, it will come in. I think Aus is full of anti-vax thickets big style as well, so its going to be a bumpy ride for them
bosstrabs Hursty I think Aus is full of anti-vax thickets big style as well Australia is just essentially the same as the UK and the US in many ways. A highly neo-liberal Anglo state with a poor compulsory education system, unless you happen to live in a nice suburb of a town/city. That breeds a marginalised faction of multi-generational thicket families.
Smallman1 Having spent lots of time in Stralia I can safely say it is 20 years behind the rest of the world. It is very backwards, perfect for people like Strumsy.
Homegrove Australia has vaccinated just 11 % of the population. That is an immense fuck up, and can’t be all down to antivaxers.
Hursty Homegrove The government strategy on dealing with Covid is a huge part, thinking they could just lock the borders and suppress it forever
Homegrove Hursty Australia really did an elaborate version of duck and hide. Not having vaccines be a big part of the strategy was just idiotic. Suppressing is a great solution before vaccines are ready though. Just look at New Zealand. I’m amazed how little their economy took a hit considering how much it’s based on tourism.
