Just trawled through iTunes and watched Eye Of The Storm . Wouldn’t say it’s aged great but the vibe of a massive club everyone going berserk seems like a looong time ago, not 6 months ago .

Note to self once it’s safe to go to a club, I’m getting my old ass off the sofa and going for it. Life’s too short and our scene is so important . We going to get overtaken by the “beige wave”? Fucking competitive haberdashery and virtual meetups?

segwin I think it really helped Diggers career doing the whole wedding DJ/Crap Club/“Can the owner of a white Capri” gig under the stewardship of an “old pro”. When house came along he didn’t forget the basics of crowd behavior and sequencing. You can really tell the way he knows to structure a set, unlike a lot of DJs that came only the scene and just banged it out.

Read somewhere that he was doing the whole crappy local nightclub scene when Acid House came along. More and more he wanted to drop house tracks but the owners were having none of it. One night he just said fuck it and dropped a load of bangers……..then got sacked. Best thing that ever happened to him….the rest is history.

IndustryStandard For whatever reason, I have a hard time picturing Digweed genuinely fucked off 😂 He’s got that “friendly neighbor” vibe. My sister has it too lol. Even trying to picture it now, all I can think of is him forgiving whatever it was and moving on with his life (which is what I ASPIRE to do, but have a really hard time doing haha).

The kind of bloke who’d sit there brooding and sulking about being given a lungo when actually he ordered a ristretto, then he’d be like “no, really, it’s okay” and just be quiet when you’re trying to have a laugh over a panini and a coffee, then do something really passive aggressive like tip 20p, and leave a shitty review.

But no, in my mind, he’s always had a temperament like my grandpa had….pretty even keeled most of the time, rolls with the punches, gets a little grumpy sometimes, maybe blusters a little bit, but gets over it quickly.

Diggers just comes across as a nice quiet guy, business minded, pretty geeky, loves his music and knows how lucky he is - making the most of the situation until it all goes pear shaped……..which it appears to be doing so for the industry right now.
