Yeah it’s not fun. Brief but really not fun. They just hit reflexive areas and your brain is like, the fuck? Don’t touch that!
But the results are quite reliable. The antigen test, which is likely the self-administered, is not so reliable. To put it in perspective, we don’t consider a test “positive” until we get the PCR/molecular lab result. Unfortunately, the antigen tests do produce false negatives. You test antigen-positive, you’re getting the PCR. Hopefully, ’though, the antigen test can be a measure of viral load and therefore infectiousness. You might test undetectable (negative) but be positive but have such a low viral load (assuming asymptomatic) that it’s not really a concern. I hope that makes sense. I wrote that a bit quickly.
