Dubman one of the big issues with all of this is the anchor effect on memory and opinions. we put so much weight on the first source of information about a subject, that it skews new evidence and makes us less likely to change our opinions. masks are a good example, where people can’t get over the first wave of information that indicated they weren’t useful and it’s the same with outdoor transmission. the science is evolving in front of us, but it takes a conscious effort to take in new information and adapt our thinking/behaviour accordingly.
there really isn’t a simple solution to all of this and our governments’ lack of understanding about individual/group psychology and it’s impact on behaviour doesn’t help. this whole thing has become a bigger mess because decisions are made based on politics vs. science and the impacts on health and economics are accordingly massive.
