Welp, back to full lockdown for us:

The news coming out on vaccines looks really encouraging… a couple of the big pharmas are saying a vaccine will be ready by year end.. and that is bang in line with what I’ve heard from a friend who knows an exec at one of the heavyweights… having said that it’s like the vaccine will only be 75% effective (although that should suffice)

    Would have thought there’ll be a considerable lag between ‘having a vaccine’ and it being readily available though?

      From what I read yesterday, the vaccine will be out by years end hopefully but the test subjects who are being used as guinea pigs right now will have ongoing testing for the next 2 years to see what the long term effects are and if they’ll be protected against second waves adaquetly. So although there’ll be a vaccine, it may just be a plaster over the cracks for now. We won’t know the vaccines full capability for another 2 years and even then it may not be enough. I take it that might be just with this particular vaccine though and other labs will be testing others in different ways.

      I guess the other positive thing to bear in mind is that we might get a few vaccines…assuming they are different that may mean if the antibodies wear off or it stops working for you, you can try another one….

        Jules72 Won’t it be like everything else in this capitalist hell hole pharma system we live in? you won’t have a choice, you’ll get whatever one is available at the time because health services will have their wheels greased by the big pharma companies providing the vaccines. This has all the hallmarks of a gold rush for those involved and some people stand to get obnoxiously rich off the end of it.

          Can’t see how the world will recover from this anytime soon, there are still droves of fit and healthy people scared shitless and staying indoors where at all possible. The economy is turbo fucked and many peoples/families lives ruined as a result.

          Big pharma have a lot to answer if found to have a hand in this but I thought they were already making enough cash off the shit diets that everyone eats around the world which creates a strong flow of chronically ill customers.

                LT42 Haha good point! The whole glyphosate scandal is an eyeopener with Bayer setting side a small $10bn pot to sort out any claims while they continue to push what is essentially a water soluble antibiotic and kills all living things.

                  If everyone would just fucking mask up (like the Asians do) we could return to something approaching a functioning economy again (like they have) as the 80% or so in favour of masks could confidently go about their business without being worried about droplets of libertarian phlegm all over them.
