    Homegrove Brexit and Tory wankers aside, personally think the U.K. approach is well justified now that near 90% of adult are vaccinated - better to build immunity now and over the last few months before variants appear than hide away and be hit very hard then. Think there was also good reason to let it rip during the summer rather than suffer a very large spike in winter, which let’s face it will be coming to Europe.

        As long as the hospitals can cope. Would suck to have your cancer operation moved because the ICU is full of unvaccinated covid-patients.

          Will be interesting to see if the UK is just ahead of the curve here due to opening up earlier or whether other factors are at play. Some countries in the EU are slightly ahead as far as vaccinations go, but not sure enough to make a huge difference in terms of infection rates.

          Population density must surely play a part in things. The population of the UK isn’t far off France and Germany but we’re probably less than half the size of each of those countries.

            Old-Dutch I do think the UK will cope better in the winter than Europe because we opened up in the summer. It had to be done.

              Homegrove I’d imagine Hugo will fly in an correct me, which I won’t mind at all, but think it’s clogging up about 10% of capacity. With 9% of them deserving it.

                  More concerned now about the inevitable winter flu outbreak. Thankfully work is offering jabs to all employees.

                    alistair yeah, getting one this year for the first time since my early 20s (when it gave me full-blown flu for the only time in my life). I don’t think it’ll clog hospitals though

                      Got offered the flu jab as well. Only ever had the proper flu once and I was completely bed ridden for at least a week. I think I’ll get the vaccine just in case.
