How would following the restrictions allow us to go back to some semblance of normality and re-start the economy? The instant people start sharing airspace the virus will spread again and they’ll have to ramp up the restrictions! It doesn’t take a genius to realise this Covid hokey cokey is not a sustainable approach without a vaccine or herd immunity.
We’re now well into the second wave and there are loads of cases but zero excess deaths. The latest figures for England and Wales actually show deaths in hospitals and care homes are below the five year average! This despite the fact the population grows and ages every year!
I don’t blame people for putting their own families health first. I just don’t think they realise how severe the long-term consequences will be for the young and those on low incomes.
