Im back in the UK and just come out of quarantine . First trip to Tesco and people still not wearing masks and looking at you as if you’re the one in the wrong/mental for wearing one. Complete selfish twats…….but in this country everyone is too scared of a shanking to say anything.

Restricting Xmas shop opening to the next 3 weeks is shaping up to be a brilliant idea.

From what I’ve seen , garden centres near us have been absolutely rammed because they were still open, now we’ve got mass crowds heading to all other shops at the same time.

My US experience has been that it varies, regardless of location. One week Wegman’s feels totally safe, but the next week it’s filled with 65 year old diabetes ridden MAGA grandpa’s audibly laughing when I give them the evil eye. Even employee compliance is a coin flip, but I at least have sympathy for them.

Obviously a lot of pricks still on London public transport without masks.. usually young blokes. In 5 months of getting the train near daily, I’ve not seen a single instance of enforcement. I just walk away these days - don’t bother with the confrontation. What bothers me is seeing these wankers on full single decker buses where distancing is impossible. And it just amazes me that this is happening…. totally Fckng amazing. Anyway… just get me through to the other side of this…. but I’ll come out of this with a very bad opinion of the 10% nasty antisocial Fuckers in this country though…

Smallman1 don’t see why you think Uber’s are safe… you’re within a metre of a guy, probably with a big family with a useless surgical mask on. I’d rather be on the tube where I can walk away from wankers and distance from everyone. I pay up for a black cab (with plastic screen) when I need to rather than get an Uber.

Outdoors around here can be a bit hit or miss - particularly runners. But stores (grocery is really all I’ve been to) have had 100% mask compliance for months now. Not seen a single person not adhering. I’ve heard of some issues at restaurants but nothing personal to me or anyone I know in the industry. Sometimes we have to remind people at the bar to put them on to come in and use the bog but nobody’s had any problem doing so.

Admittedly I also go in when it’s as quiet as possible (e.g. Tuesday morning or something)

Problem there has been homeless people and crazies. The buses have been good but BART, our subway system that has zero ticket enforcement and easily hop-able gates, has become a essentially a moving asylum. It’s gotten better recently as more people have starting riding it, but when this all kicked off in March, it was alarming. Pretty sure that’s where I caught it from. Dunno where else it could’ve been.

jonattonyeah right.. at times in the U.K. it feels lawless.. the result of a dipshit leadership and endless police cost cutting. Can’t help but feel there are going to be big consequences of the last 9 months on law and order here - get the feeling that many think rules and laws are optional to follow

I’ve had to totally give up our local farmer’s market which sucks. It’s like 200 feet from my house and is typically the source of 95% of our groceries, but it is a long narrow space and the clientele are almost entirely PA Dutch; aka Meemaw and Peepaw Trump idiots. It’s a shame as the market is filled entirely with individual small businesses but the owners are all MAGA chuds themselves, and their clients (who haven’t died) are all still loafing in in droves. We are friends with a few stand owners and they say their business hasn’t been effected at all.
