PCR cycling is an area I know very little about. If you are asking the question of whether the tests are all made up and this is all some kind of fabrication, then get fucked. Because this is way worse than first time and it is seriously real. I’m not engaging with anything about hoaxes or that this is all made up or any other shit like that.

We’ve got a company ‘away day’ coming up. It’s usually in Miami if we have a good year or Chicago if its not so good. Obviously, its all virtual this year. For a bit of fun we’ve been asked to provide some facts about ourselves that no one in the company would know. I said up until 34 I was keeping down three paid gigs in the hope that one of the other two would take off. Then when neither of the other two happened I had to settle for my current career.

benson - I’m not debating whether this shit is real or whether the tests are made up. I thought a couple of people on here - you and Jonnatonyeah (or maybe even Bosstrabs!) - might be able to provide an answer to a question. The issue is whether the PCR test is fit for current purpose and what the suitable/better alternatives are to determine policy and lockdowns for the entire country… cheers

I’m not sure I’m understanding the question. The PCR tests are the standard around here. Antigen (rapid) tests are used but if those come up positive we do a PCR to be sure. We never rely on antigen/rapid for quarantine or case investigation. PCR has proven reliable as far as I know. It’s just costly (we’re paying upwards of $130 per test - free to the patient), time consuming (we try for 24 hours but it can be upwards of 72 depending on lab back-up), and invasive (it’s not fun to be assaulted with a Q-tip). Antigen might be useful for those with a high viral load but PCR is our SOP.

Do people really think that many of the (average age) 82 year olds who have died would have said “yes please, sacrifice the futures of millions of young people so I can stay alive”? The biggest lockdown fanatics are the home owning middle classes whose incomes have barely skipped a beat during this. As for lockdowns, I am not sure how something that is unsustainable can be anything but a failure.
