C_J This is really winding me up - clear scientific advice, not only from the UK, but from the producers of the vaccines say delaying the second injection is a risk, but the fucking cunt show that is the government have decided to ignore all that to make it look like we’re doing a good job. Total fucking cunts, the lot of them.

C_J It’s a good question. Certainly with antibiotics a suboptimal course either dose or duration will result in potential bacterial resistance. I’m not sure whether this holds true for viral vaccines, but I guess it could. Any situation that puts selection pressure on an organism without eradicating it will favour proliferation of resistant strains.

I don’t know what the evidence is .. suspect though one shot works for the government from a macro standpoint (bringing down cases overall)but it’s crap if you’re over 80 and youve not had the two.

Jules72 and it would be crap if we had fully vaccinated two million OAP’s instead of giving four million protection. There is no silver bullet here.

I don’t really know to be honest. My Father had the pfizer jab yesterday and he’s completely fine apart from his arm hurts a little.

This caused ructions in our household. The mrs (also anaesthetist) got her second dose. She got it on the last day they were honouring it. I am quite happy to wait. My understanding from the Oxford/AZ trial is that nobody who got the first dose was hospitalised with C19. That is the win we are looking for. It is still damage control. How long that protection persists for if you do not get a second dose at 3 weeks is difficult to say but it will not end abruptly at 3 weeks

Sure we were promised x million doses and yet again the government failed to deliver, but rather dampen down and reduce hospitalisations across a larger population that completely prevent any illness in a smaller population. I understand the anxieties about the trials and how this is off licence but I think it sensible.
