I have seen it a lot lately in articles/interviews/comments etc “I can’t speak to the UK (or wherever)”
What was wrong with “I can’t speak about the UK” or “I can’t speak for the UK”?
I hope it’s not one of these horrible Seppo sayings that now infiltrates the UK, like “Can I umm GET a mocha?” (yes, sure, go behind the counter and make it yourself) replacing “Please can I have a coffee?”
