Fookin hell. What drives these nut jobs to do these things.

Smallman1 lol’iday

Assume this is intended to mean non stop belly laughs, as opposed to a break from lol’s?

Mad_Cyril Meaning I am perfectly relaxed about getting a second jab ten weeks after the first

Old-Dutch this has been canada’s basic plan, get as many first doses done as quickly as possible. we’re just starting wide spread booking for 2nd doses now.

If you haven’t had your second jab, it’s worth trying to see if you can rebook it - I know that it’s pretty easy to get a second AZ jab accelerated, even if you’re below 40. Go onto the NHS vaccine booking site, cancel your appointment and then rebook it. Some people I know succeeded in getting a considerably earlier appointment. I had Moderna and doesn’t look I can get my second prior to 1st July, most like due to low Moderna supply.

5000+ cases today… I think that’s it for the full reopening later this month… cases will be 10-15k by then. And that is the cost of yet another Boris Johnson cock up (on the Indian variant)

Jules72 but what about the number of hospitalisations? Is the NHS under pressure? Are the vaccines no longer effective? If hospitalisations are not rising rapidly especially given the latest relaxations, why should we change course at this stage? It would be a massive hit on confidence, there would be a plethora of lawsuits from hospitality. Plus there is total fatigue now

alistair think it’s about the risk reward of opening up later this month… if something goes wrong and the reopening has to go into reverse, I think that will be far more damaging to all than waiting a month for the bulk of adults to be fully vaccinated. We are nearly there - not worth cocking it up due to impatience.

Scientist quoted in the Times today: “If we are talking about a delay, we’re talking about a delay of weeks, not months any more. That could be very significant. I’m not so sure why everybody is absolutely obsessed by fixing it to a date and not fixing it to the data.”… that’s exactly my view - why hurry this and risk messing up the whole reopening for a long time to come?

Jules72 100%. I actually think the opposition (i.e. Starmer) should come out NOW and offer a moratorium on political points scoring if the Government were to delay reopening. We’ve got a window of about 2 weeks - not having to worry about the political optics of the decision could help Johnson make the right decision - I don’t have access to the data, so don’t know what the right decision is - but for the Government in the UK to base their decision solely on the data presented to them, it needs to be as apolitical as possible IMO.

Jules72 and then a bit longer while yet another new variant emerges. Has there been a worrying increase in hospitalisations? Let the vaccinated get on with their lives.

Fingers crossed this doesn’t affect my 2 x Dixon and 1 x Sasha at Fabric parties next month.

alistair no….at some point life needs to crack on, but the objective of a pause is getting as many adults as possible fully vaccinated

              alistair
I heard the tail end of interview with a Minister on TV earlier saying there’s a rise in a Nepal varient in Portugal. Which is why it’s going on the amber list.

Everyone around here near Bath has got the Pfizer jab interestingly, no matter what age you are.

                Money talks eh.
