alistair I’m still struggling to understand why the answer has to be polarised - FULLY open, or FULLY closed. I don’t think anyone is still suggesting that Zero covid is a serious strategy. I’m certainly not. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think that a sensible and somewhat cautious approach to opening up fully is the right approach.
If the Government came out today, and said that the data from the Delta variant is sufficiently concerning that a delay of FULL reopening is pushed out by a fixed number of weeks (say 5 weeks, to the end of July), would you have a problem with it?
It sounds like the Government are looking at a variety of options to allow some easing on June 21st to go ahead, but falling a little short of the full derestriction they’d previously planned - perhaps keeping ‘some’ restrictions on indoor social gatherings, or keeping the requirement to wear a mask in certain social settings. Would you be ok with that approach?
