Funky vaccines only prevent 50% of infections on average… given there are no restrictions and we are heading into winter it’s possible hospitalisation go up from 8k now to 20-40k in 2-3 months time… and that Johnson panics and locks us down again… why take that risk? Act now, introduce passports and act preemptively, and avoid lockdown… why is that difficult to understand?

It is possible delta burns itself out but no one knows… so why take unnecessary risks and cow tow to right wing libertarian nutters? (Like Hugo)

Agreed. At least around here. We have the hospital capacity. We have vaccination jabs available and free. Those who are were going to get vaccinated have been vaccinated. Those who won’t, won’t. The only way to truly address a virus like this is to triple our health system capacity and that would take years if it’s even possible. Once again, around here - but we’ve done very well and it’s time to start the process of learning to live alongside Covid as it’s not going anywhere. What we can do is address risk factors. Like stop being so fucking fat. Go for a short walk every day. And if you’re not vaccinated, sorry you don’t get to do most things vaccinated people do. Choices have consequences.

hugopal because the un-vaccinated are driving hospital and icu demand well beyond capacity in many places. our province has take the “you can’t hide behind the sofa” approach that you’re advocating for and our health care system is at a breaking point. we’ve vaccinated 70% of >12 years (60% of our total population) and we’re currently over icu capacity and have cancelled ALL non-life saving procedures. this while being an estimated several weeks from the peak of this wave. people are going to die from a number of non-covid illnesses because of your exact attitude and approach. this isn’t the flu.
