Along_the_Wire what’s the issue with histamine levels, what are the tell tale signs?
As per CPR’s comment, for the first few years with me there were times it also felt like being poisoned.
Dizziness, thumping headaches, seeing swirling colours when you close your eyes, inflammation/tightness in the head and neck, breaking out in hives. In the worst cases vomiting. It’s a bit like a slightly trippier and more physically uncomfortable version of being drunk, except your mind is still pretty lucid despite what’s going on in your body.
Often what people think of as food poisoning from fish is the direct result of the fish containing very high histamine levels (which build up as a fish loses its freshness), as opposed to other types of bacteria.
Now that my symptoms are a bit more under control and I’ve eliminated a lot of the major triggers, some of my more mild continued sometime symptoms are stiffness in the fingers with occasional hive breakouts and occasional feeling of puffiness/inflammation in the head and neck.
