vinnyt77 Can’t get close to tequila straight up. Just the smell of it turns my stomach. Something to do with an horrendous bottle of Jose Cuervo when I was 16…. Last time I (stupidly) had a straight up shot, it came back up almost instantly, accompanied by the dinner I’d recently finished eating.
Absolutely this. Only mine happened in front of 200 other bankers at an xmas dinner, in one of belfast’s nicest hotels, in december 2001. Few of us at the bar, someone suggested shots, it was so busy they’d ran out of shot glasses so i got my tequila in a short glass. Which meant there was too much in it. We did the shots, i swallowed it when i thought i’d drained the shot but there was the same amount still to go which went down my throat and triggered my gag reflex and turned the fuck out of my stomach. Dropped the glass, ran like fuck, made it to the corridor the toilets were on, both hands over my mouth, vomit starting to squirt out any gaps it could find! Never again.
