Super cheap for a couple of days. I don’t have it or really need it but why not.

They fortunately offer up some pretty good deals on Plugin Boutique, which in turn allow you to buy even better loyalty discounts via iZotope so it’s worth the purchase.

I own a bunch of iZotope products as a result of this.

Was pissing about with a few sample libraries at the weekend and managed to miraculously put something together.

This is what happens when you have really bad Gear Acquisition Syndrome (G.A.S.). I’m a tad concerned for my overall well being.

Henry finally got to listen to this a couple of times today, love the atmosphere and the strings that come in half way through. good effort as always.

303abuser Thanks man. Ultimately not the sound I am aiming for so I will pull this soon enough from SC. But good that some people other than my wife and the 90 year old next door are listening to it. 😀

      9 days later

New one. On the streaming services as well. On a trance-y tip.

        303abuser 👍🙂

I downloaded the vengeance clubsounds vol 1 sample pack recently. The ‘acid’ sounds are pure pob circa 1999. Deffo be some more 90s Warren trance in 3 years time when I get to those ideas!

        8 days later

new one out today, slow and groovy …

I haven’t worked on music much in the past 5 years, and it sounds like 2015. Actually started this back then, but wasn’t able to piddle around much until lately. Feel free to have a laugh.

JonQPublik it’s not bad, lots to like about it for sure. if you want feedback from someone who has no business providing it, let me know, i’ve got a couple of quick thoughts if you want them. if not, keep at it and keep sharing your work.

303abuser I’d appreciate the feedback. It’s been a long time since I made any efforts in production.
There’s likely so much I’ve forgotten since 2015… for example: macros in ableton. When I started working again I could not remember how to quickly/easily cut an audio track… a couple of days ago it finally came back to me. Seriously felt stupid.

ok cool, here you go. as always, i’ll add the caveat that i’m in no way qualified to give you proper advice.

            in no particular order:

            • the low-mid/bass sound at the beginning is too wide; i’d mono it, at least under 300 hz or so, and maybe saturate/widen the top end to get it to cut through the mix. i don’t think there’s an actual phasing problem, but it bothers me a little, maybe it’s just a resonant peak or something too. i’m not sure without loading into a daw.
            • i like the vocals/speach/whatever you want to call it, but it needs processing. first it’s too loud in the mix and comes in really abruptly. i’d set it back with a little reverb, ease it in. also, i’d chop it and make it play a little better with the arrangement – it almost sounds like it’s just playing on top of the rest of the track vs. being part of it, if that makes sense (e.g. the content should peak dramatically with the end of a break). i’d also consider moving it around the stereo field a bit (chop it into phrases, use 3-4 tracks, pan them differently, add some reverb and delays, etc.). i’d also make it a bit more sparse or drop it out at times to let the rest of the track come forward.
            • the high pitched whine around 4:10 to 5:07 is quite resonant. i’d eq/low pass it to soften it.
            • it sounds like a good 5 or 6 minute track, the arrangement could probably be more consise
            • the hats are a little static and could use some automation (panning, delay/feedback changes, different patterns, etc.)

the overall mix sounds pretty good, just needs some tweaks. i love the groove from the congas, sound design is good, i like the vibe and feel of the track.

hopefully that helps a little, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. 🙂

Red letter day here in the Amps household, have managed to write a few ‘bits’ that sound like they might actually be ‘music’, rather than an industrial accident.

Also, delighted to see Jay in his Bayern gear, an unexpected bonus this saturday morning!

Amps that’s always a good feeling, can’t wait to hear it. 😉

                • Amps replied to this.

at risk of shilling for plugin alliance again, they’ve got a sale through tomorrow … $30 for any plugin (minus a couple of exceptions) and they have two codes so you can buy two if you want. if you’ve never bought from them, you can probably stack their survey discount too.

if you’re looking at synths, lion and bx oberhausen are both really good, especially at that price and byome is an amazing modular fx setup.

HLLWN-2999 and PMPKN-2999 are the codes, happy shopping.
