Unbroken1 yes - now that it can be used as a plugin, rather than a stand alone host. I only really use the synths at the moment which sound great. It’s one of my aspirations to get a bit deeper into it. The newest version allows you to resize the window so that it’s actually viewable. Sounds nuts but you have to work (and I’m still working with as Im not upgrading yet) with really small windows which you could hardly read on the previous versions.
the production thread
…do you pay the full monthly subs for it then?
There’s a Player Device that I’d really like to try, but they don’t work like a normal VST and have to run through Reason, committing to another subscription for something with a load of bells and whistles that I may never use (there’s plenty within Live that I already don’t use!) seems a bit daft to me. I’ve read you can buy the lite version for about £15 on eBay and run them that way, but would appreciate some insight if you have any?
Unbroken1 no I don’t and won’t subscribe. You can buy reason outright, which at the moment is £349. I bought it years ago for under £100 in a sale and upgraded for a similar amount in another sale to reason 11 which allowed it to be used as a plugin. You should be able to use the player devise in the nested plugin within live for instance. I’ve used the dual ARP that way. Paying full whack probably a bit overkill for a single device tho.
Just remembered got an email from the mixed in key crew saying everything ½ price.
Thought worth mentioning.

Unbroken1 no. You need to have reason, either owning it or renting.
Reason can be used as a vst within live - and you can load whatever you like into the reason ‘rack’ - be that a synth, drum machine or player (/midi device).
So the player you are thinking of buying will need to nest within the reason rack vst in live, if that is how you were hoping to use it.
Edit - looking at the website you can try the subscription for a dollar for 30 days, probably your best bet. I can’t easily see some sort of kontact player equivalent.
…want to try the Bassline Generator, have had a strong recommendation and it looks great for jamming.
Have installed Reason Lite, now getting a ‘Hardware Exception’ error when I try to open it as a VST
Fair enough, I’m still battling the urge to pick up uhe satin while it’s on sale.

I’ve had the “add to cart” page sitting on my desktop for over a week now.

303abuser screw that. Just get Chow Tape Model for free and decide that’s good enough and that tape emulation is overrated. https://chowdsp.com/products.html
Morty-C-137 I have chow tape for the ipad and about 7 other tape emulations for ableton. I really like the sound of satin and it’s got a few features the others don’t. Probably just comes down to workflow.
Do most of you guys use Ableton over Logic Pro X?
Along_the_Wire switched from Ableton to Logic in 2013. Never going back.
Along_the_Wire Live for me. To be fair if I was a Mac user I’d have logic as well. It’s so heavily discounted/ subsidised against the competition.
Along_the_Wire I use ableton, but from what I’ve read, logic is a perfectly reasonable alternative. I just don’t feel like learning a new daw at this point.
