OK! The Arturia freebie is very nice indeed! The refraction module give a thick unison sound I can’t get out of any chorus plugin and the harmonizer module with spray enabled = instant ambient.

Morty-C-137 For a simple plugin, it’s pretty useful, I can see myself using it regularly.

303abuser will check this out, played a lot of your stuff over the last couple of years

baggers44 Good to hear, it definitely gets better at higher volumes. I’d love to hear it in a big space.

Morty-C-137 Cheers, morph2 saved my ass on this one. I had a week to get it done and the first track wasn’t great. This was me throwing morph on everything and luckily it came out ok lol.

That’s superb. Would indeed sound great on a big sound system.
Just wondering what you used for your dub chords. I guess the Digitakt? Then used Morph 2?

Morty-C-137 Yeah that’s the one. It’s really interesting for adding new textures and dimensions to a more static sound.

Henry Thanks for checking it out. I had to write this in about 3 days, so I started all the chords from samples to save time. The swelling pad from the beginning is just chord slices pitched up one semitone with insert fx (echo>echoboy>compressor>blyss>superpate>filterfreak); the main chords that come in around 2:00 is just a single slice with sountoys fx rack as an instert (phaser>filterfreak>echoboy>filterfreak>superplate); and there’s a vocoder type chord which is a vox sample with morph mixing in the main chord and some compression. All the chords are grouped with instert fx (silo>spec ops>tape>eq>compressor>filterfreak>tremolator) with a send to space echo which sends to modnetic and all of the sends are grouped, compressed, and sidechained to the bass group.

So long story short, the fx are doing all the heavy lifting. Sorry for the long-winded explanation, I had to look at the project to figure it out.

303abuser Thanks. Appreciate the effort documenting your workflow. Quite relieved that you didn’t do it on the Syntakt!
That Morph 2 looks really interesting. Will probably take up the 30 day evaluation to see how suited I would be to using it.

Henry That’s the one thing the syntakt doesn’t do well (or at least not easily). While I actually really like the chord engine, it is basic and requires some layering. SY Raw is actually decent for getting chord sounds, but again requires some effort and layering, so I find the digitakt faster.

Definitely try morph out. I used it on the bass for one section of Bloom to add some texture in the higher frequencies and that worked really well. I feel like I’m just scratching the surface of potential uses. It’s one of those tools no one will know is there, but adds a lot to sound design.

Trying out take lanes in ableton 11, what a great feature. Makes live recording from hardware so much easier. I think once I get the workflow down, this is going to be game changing.
