mono-stereo i’m not sure about logic, but that’s what i use session view for. when it comes to sound design, especially when i’m between projects, i set up fx chains (sometimes with intent and sometimes randomly) and switch out instruments or samples just to see what it sounds like. i’ll record long jams from hardware and resample those too, using session view for all of it.
when i’m working on a track, i usually set up kick, bass, a simple hat, and 2-3 tracks with chords/stabs, along with 4 or 5 return tracks. once i’ve got my palette set up, i do everything else in arrangement view.
it all just comes down to finding a workflow that’s creative and quick when i’m actually trying to finish something.
