Not installed 11.1 yet because my MacBook maybe has a battery issue and don’t want to go through the process of removing the beta, copying settings, deauthorizing etc. Just waiting to speak with Apple Care to see if it needs to be exchanged.
As for the beta. It’s the most recent beta, so I assume very close to 11.1. What you need to know: it has not crashed yet. Works very fast when native (so when running just Ableton and Arturia stuff). If I use NI/Izotope stuff, save the project then open it again it is slower to open. I have not been asked to run Rosetta so I assume the software is smart enough just to invoke Rosetta without prompting? However, once the project is open with the non-native plugins loaded I would say it’s about the same vs the native project? Difficult to tell/test but I don’t feel held up by using Izotope/NI plugins: I don’t think the CPU has gone above 30%, no matter now much stuff I through at it.
As for 11.1. To be honest, there some stuff they’ve done which I really don’t like vs 11.0.1 like the combining of the Clip View controls at the bottom and hiding some other stuff which I can’t fucking find no matter what. I spent about 10-15 minutes the other day trying to get it back to the piano roll because it was stuck in Automation clip view.
Apparently there’s a couple of new Max For Live devices which I hadn’t noticed.
Overall 11 is still a bit of a let down. The only features I honestly use regularly vs 10 are the new random tools in Clip view which are really good.
For somebody with a new M1 Mac like you have, then does it warrant the upgrade? If Rosetta is working fine, then maybe just wait until they run one of their 30% offers.
