It’s weird, I recognise a lot of the tunes by the label but not by name.

    mono-stereo
Same here. I often just pick random records out and Within a few skips of the track I know how it goes but wouldn’t have a clue who made it.

    Episode 11 - 80’s Dance

Not a good era for me. Only got one right (the obvious one of course - no spoiler)!

    a month later

Echo yeah I’d been waiting for that one.

I knew Telekom would go too heavy on the “before my time”, slightly more subtle and acid-y early 90s side of things, which has been a bit more in vogue in Berlin in recent years, but I still would have won that with 8/10.

Can’t believe some of them didn’t know Aurora Borealis.

Who doesn’t know ‘Sacred Cycles’! 😅

SM001 it seemed a few more of them got that one, but AB had them stumped.

I was good for the obvious - Humate, Jam & Spoon, Pete Lazonby and Universal Nation. The rest I was completely stumped on!

Was expecting some more early Platipus to feature to be honest

ScottBailey I enjoy these. As well as revelling in the djs historical ignorance, it puts me in touch with some classics that I wasn’t aware of. X Cabs neuro for instance. It is insane how good much of the trance between 90 and 96 was. Trance Wax/Ejeca is a fab producer but only got half of them

Would love to hear a 90’s trance set from one of my DJ friends if anyone wants to take up the cudgels.

alistair I’ve already done a PvD tribute mix a couple of years ago, but it was more like early to mid-2000’s tracks.

I used to have quite a lot of 90s stuff on vinyl, but it all stayed at the family home when I moved to London on a whim, way back when. Subsequently found out that it all got thrown into a skip when they decided to decorate after I’d left. Broke my heart!

ScottBailey remember watching PvD record his live EM at the Gallery Turnmills in 99. One of my fave nights that. Atmosphere/anticipation electric and he smashed it. Much better than Oakie in my opinion back then.

Genuinely would never speak to them again.

SM001 I still have a very small fraction of hope that they’re still in the loft, but mum has rented out that house for over a decade and she’s said that there’s nothing left of mine in there now. It definitely didn’t move with her to their new place, so pretty sure it’s all gone. Probably did it out of spite for all those years I spent practicing!

wtf did PVD do of note during those years?! The last two tracks of his I remember being aware of at the time were Avenue and Namistai, and those were both 99/00.

hugopal there’s a track called Time Traveller on there, think I played The Other Side, and I think I also played one or two of his remixes. The other tracks were stuff he was playing around that time. Remembered watching him a Gatecrasher Summer Sound System in 2000 and with all the lasers going it was pretty epic. Was trying to make something that reminded of of that time.
