loopdokter…first time he had any kind of profile was as (a newly licensed) Kiss FM’s breakfast jock. Kiss was very much split down the middle between daytime ‘personality’ DJ’s, and the evening specialist shows, GG was without question one of the former (not a criticism per se, he went on to have an evening show later on, where he ‘broke’ loads of Manifesto and Matt Darey tracks).
Some Kiss DJ’s used their radio profile to get club gigs, ‘Dangerous’ Dave Pearce etc. Some were very much club/warehouse DJ’s first, and most of these were on-air from Kiss’s pre-'90 pirate era, Judge Jules, Trevor Nelson, Paul Trouble, Jazzie B, Faver/Dale. Again, GG was definitely one of the former- did he play acid house before this point? possibly but not to any significant audience, the first most had heard of him was phone quizzes with Gary the decorator from Basildon.
Nice enough fella? seems to be. Decent DJ career? definitely. Acid house legend? Nah.
