Cheers for the Chicago 7 film recommendation, it was excellent.

It inspired me to order the Max Hastings book on Vietnam. Just getting stuck into it now, absolutely stunning how the US got themselves involved there against all the advice that it was impossible to win.

Hursty Did you watch Ken Burns’ The Vietnam War on Netflix, Hursty? Easily the best documentary series ever made on the subject.

Kumquat damn had that lined up next…. Simon I take it you liked the previous series?

LT42 its excellent. Learned so much watching it. The Iraq documentary series on iplayer essential viewing too

LT42 I will check it out….after I have finished the book, which is epic by the way. It starts in 1945 and covers the French colonial cluster before the shambolic era of splitting the country like Korea and the weekly coups which ensued in South Vietnam. Just up to to 1965 where shit is starting to get real with the deployment of hundreds of thousands of men into the jungle. It is a painful read.

The Mrs keeps asking me if I’m enjoying it. My reply is usually ‘blood, death, torture, rape, famine, etc’ What’s not to enjoy!?

Jules72 Yes, I watched the previous series of it and thought they were ok, but not great.

I think my main gripe with that series is they go around shooting people in broad daylight, in public places or bump someone off and there’s never ever any police involved. In fact, I don’t think I saw the police in this series.

Give it a whirl but don’t expect much and you’ll work out what’s going to happen at the end by half way through.

Binged ’The Queen’s Gambit’ over the weekend and thought it was brilliant. Great story and one of the best things I’ve seen in a while.

Thanks to those who recommended it.

Kumquat yeah loved it… last episode was way too overdramatic though imo

Thought queens gambit was excellent. She was brilliant throughout.

Not on Netflix, but I’m enjoying ‘Industry’

Very good documentary on Netflix about Dominic Strauss Kahn, some dirt ball.

Somehow only watching narcos Mexico now. Totes emosh episode last night when pablo, blackie and the cali cartel guys made an appearance. Getting good now. Started it before and only got 3 episodes in.
