rhouses I think it’s problem was that it was too faithful to the novel it adapted. Macon Blair’s character was the only thing that was different (that character or storyline was not in the novel). Some things work better in a book than in a movie.

Homegrove I should probably wait for it to get a bit chilly before watching it. Or crank up the AC. A good shootout scene too.

The Shadow Strays. Excellent Indonesian action film from Timo Tjahjanto about an assassin who goes after the gangsters who killed a teenage neighbours mum. Just an excuse for some impressively brutal action sequences, which I am fine with. Not quite up there with the directors classic ‘ The Night Comes for Us’ but there are some brilliant fights in this.
Interestingly (imho) he is now directing the sequel to ‘Nobody’, the Bob Odenkirk film from a couple years of the back and also the English language remake of ‘Train to Busan’ called ‘The Last Train to New York’

nicksneddon yeah, I know what you mean, it’s a great film which didn’t feel like it needed a remake. At least they’ve got someone interesting to direct it and not Brett Ratner or McG.

This is the Zodiac Speaking is very good. And offers some new info how either Arthur Leigh Allen really was the Zodiac, or there is a new world record for coincidences. It also makes you appreciate Fincher’s film even more, and shows how well it was researched.

Yeah that new Zodiac doc is really good. Came out thinking, great they pretty much caught the fucker. But then I read reddit comments and it was still looking 50 50.

There’s a 30 for 30esque doc on the Boston Red Sox 2004 win. Worth a watch, don’t think you have to be a baseball fan, but I guess it would help.

Wife and I enjoyed the first episode of Black Doves immensily. Tomorrow is the Finnish independence day, so a three day weekend. I expect us to watch all six episodes by Sunday evening despite Saturday being fully booked.

I thought overall Black Doves was decent enough. Could have been an episode shorter, but that’s classic Netflix to drag things out. Second series has been agreed and I’m at sure I will watch that too

Public Disorder. Shit title for an excellent series about an Italian police riot squad. Not much levity but it’s well done with some excellently grizzled faces. Italian title is much better..ACAB…All Cops Are Bastards.
