The whole concept of a lunchtime drink during working hours is so alien to me, I’ve never worked anywhere that allowed it but even if they did, I don’t see how I’d be able to go back and do a few hours work after it.

Done lunchtime pints many times, used to work near the Postal Depot and railway station in Warrington, always used to surprise me the amount of uniforms in there (the posties had probably finished their rounds, but railway staff?)

This was around 2005/6.

I was delighted to find out that lunchtime pints were actually a thing in the UK when I came to London to that one Bedrock-party (19th birthday I think). My mate and I were staying in a hotel near XOYO and the next day stumbled out to get some breakfast at a cafe before doing some sightseeing before our evening flight back to Finland. Two blocks from the cafe we said fuck this and got hair of the dog pints at the first pub we saw. It was near noon and empty when we got in, I went to the toilet and when I came back it was full of business types in suits. It was a Friday though, I doubt all those folks did it every lunch.

Homegrove Could do three pints and a carvery in just on an hour in the boozer opposite my old work, made a Tuesday afternoon so much more interesting; proper turbo charged the mind wok for all the blue sky marketing ideas.

bosstrabs Last day of work before a long Chinese New Year break for me, we got properly spasticated on red wine, so much so that a mate of mine has now earned himself the nickname ‘Taliban’ (verb: got talibanned), that is to say he was seen falling out of an open toilet cubicle tripping over the pants around his knees and faceplanting.

*The reference is that it, during the Afghan conflict, it was common to see pictures of dead Taliban soldiers with their pants around their ankles, as their enemies took a certain liberty with them before execution.

Roughly translated this means they had 3 glasses of wine each like absolute benders.

(and had the self imposed precautionary two pints of water between each glass)
