  • Dave's Classic Commercial CD Listening Club

Went to gatecrasher at least once and a month from when it started at the arches. Had some brilliant nights seeing Sasha, sander k, Paul van dyke and Carl cox. Also went to some shockers including a New Year’s Eve where Tony de vit was on at 9pm. Certainly become full of egos when the whole uv gang started to get famous. My mates younger brother turned into one. When it shut they all moved onto the hard house nights in Sheffield ((can’t remember it’s name but was also an after hours when gatecrasher was still on, which was fucking horrendous)

bosstrabs Remind me, what was the venue for Bed called? Sound Factory? Something like that? Think it was already a club before Bed moved there?

Amps Bed? Benson was a regular.

Amps He’d never go there, but it’s an apt name for his early retreats for his kip.

Dan Boom! 😆 Sorry, completely missed the joke! Taxi!

      Amps
Spot on. Plenty of US House jocks as well.

Great variety and felt more communal than commercial / themed.

I went to Sundissential once. I met Judge Jules (KLANG). He was remarkably friendly.

Mad_Cyril Thats the one! Can’t find the flyer for it, but went to what I assume was an NY Sushi night there, line up was something like Fatboy Slim, Justin Robertson, Freddie Fresh, David Holmes and John Carter & Monkey Mafia. Proper Big Beat royalty. Boss night.

Mad_Cyril Up until about maybe 95-96 Cream managed a huge amount of British DJs, and I mean huge, that was one of the reasons the line ups where so strong… and then they just decided they couldn’t be arsed with running a management agency and let them all go.

Amps Jeremy Healy owned that period. Women used to wet their knickers when he came on. Coke fiend and shagger extraordinaire. The skirt at Ronson when he played was top quality. Got banned from all the best hotels in Leeds. Remember he was resident at Cream for while. Funny, I saw him play quite a good set at Gatecrasher in 98 when his profile was starting to decline and the cyberpunks didn’t like him. Wouldn’t play trance. I respected the attitude. Went out with Kate Moss and Patsy Kensit. Fair play

Healey at up yer Ronson was always rammed.

Bed was originally the music factory. I used to go to love to be quite a bit. Another Healey favourite

I also remember seeing Adam freeland and garnier at the sound factory but it certainly was not love to be
