alistair I’m not disagreeing with you sentiment, but to be fair Digweed had about 4, maybe 5 good Bunker mixes. The rest of them had the odd good tune here or there, but the mixes in themselves were ‘one and done’.

alistair Dunno, can’t say I’ve listened to any sets by Four Tet. I was refering to the Bunker sessions. They’ve got this pretigue about them, but having gone back and listened to most again I’m not sure they deserve the hype they got. Maybe 4 or 5 of them, like I said. They were great fun to tune in to at the time though!

smokindan interesting to see them using the AlphaTheta Euphoria mixer at this gig! Thought Diggers was strictly a DB4 on his rider these days. Must’ve got some serious wonga for road testing it!

alistair I’ve seen her live twice and she was great both times. She has diverse tastes so you’ll hear a little bit of everything but not in a choppy way, everything flows seamlessly. I’ve rarely ever heard her put a foot wrong mixing wise, even when she has loops/hot cues/multiple tracks going, which tells me she takes great care in getting to know the tracks. IMO she’s probably the most technically gifted DJ around.
She’s played regularly as guest host on BBC and NTS over the years.

alistair She regularly plays 5-6 hour sets.

I love most of the tracks she plays especially when she dishes out breaks and old school prog. In an interview I read with her she said she takes the track selection and set preparations process really seriously but once she’s playing she has fun with it and enjoys being spontaneous rather than just going thru the motions.

With more and more live streams available post Covid most DJ’s i’ve watched do fuck all behind the decks except pretending to twiddle the EQ’s for 5-6 mins before mixing in the next track which bores the shit out of me. With Avalon Emerson everything she does behind the decks has a purpose and she’s great fun to watch.

alistair Do if you get the chance. Theres a few of her live sets knocking around.

          This one is great fun…

ScottBailey Digweed’s played with DJM V10 since it was released if DB4 is not available. It can be a hard mixer for promoters to acquire since A&H discontinued it years ago.

ScottBailey oh shit didn’t read properly. Well that does surprise me, Digweed’s never striked me as a rotary-guy, but I guess he is into a superior sound.

SM001 I honestly can’t see what is wrong with reading a book or watching a bit of golf between mixes, or snooker - cricket …I’m not being prescriptive like. you can get a lot done in those 3 hr sessions….all that meaningless twiddling mid track - never sounds any different.

Homegrove Digweed’s never striked me as a rotary-guy

He must have used them a ton back in the day because places like Twilo and Cream all had Urei or Rane rotary mixers in their booths.

But now he gets to pick and choose what he plays on, I thought it was an odd choice especially when it was a Bedrock showcase event at the WMC.

SM001 nope and this also private, but you can play it but not favorite? 🤷‍♂️

I guess they want you to go through DeSchool’s archive, and just use Mixcloud as the player. They just opened said archive, they’re bound to have a lot of other good mixes too.
