alistair I’ve seen her live twice and she was great both times. She has diverse tastes so you’ll hear a little bit of everything but not in a choppy way, everything flows seamlessly. I’ve rarely ever heard her put a foot wrong mixing wise, even when she has loops/hot cues/multiple tracks going, which tells me she takes great care in getting to know the tracks. IMO she’s probably the most technically gifted DJ around.
She’s played regularly as guest host on BBC and NTS over the years.
alistair She regularly plays 5-6 hour sets.
I love most of the tracks she plays especially when she dishes out breaks and old school prog. In an interview I read with her she said she takes the track selection and set preparations process really seriously but once she’s playing she has fun with it and enjoys being spontaneous rather than just going thru the motions.

With more and more live streams available post Covid most DJ’s i’ve watched do fuck all behind the decks except pretending to twiddle the EQ’s for 5-6 mins before mixing in the next track which bores the shit out of me. With Avalon Emerson everything she does behind the decks has a purpose and she’s great fun to watch.
