Dubman I had one of these and had a pair of soundlab belt drives hooked up to it in 93, playing sinister Belgian techno off weird labels, trying to emulate the Thunderdome tapes doing the rounds. Quite a few nights I stayed up to catch Radio1, holding the metal aerial at the correct angle on the back of the boombox in order to get a decent reception as you recorded. There was an Underworld special mix on a friday night (I think!) early doors, it had some unbelievable music on it, complete with intermittent static and radio interference coming through every few mins caused by me sliding down the wall to Emerson’s silky techno vibes. That tape was banged out in cars for years after. I’d love an MP3 if anyone knows the one I’m talking about. I’d like to know if it stands up as it was fairly serious at the time.
