  • Danny Tenaglia (circa '97 - '99)

I remember reading in mixmag about his set in miami at the winter music conference and he literally did play touch me for nearly an hour. Talk about teasing in a breakdown lol.

He played Home over a weekend back in 00 for his GU and he was super protective. There were screens around the booth so you couldn’t see him or in to the booth. My ex was working for Home at the time and despite his super security consciousness I managed to get out back behind the booth and hang out there during the sets. All I remember was his neon light messages saying how great London was and sending shout outs.

Met Dave Beer there and when I introduced myself he thought I was Danny Howells and that he’d try for ages to book me!

Another clang while I’m at it, I managed to get one of the few early promos of Touch Me direct from Rui at the same time as DT got his copy.

Also remember his Gatecrasher SSS set in the Bedrock tent where he played the hour of Touch Me which was already overplayed by that time.

You managed to make a thread about the great DT ALL ABOUT YOU 🤣

Hate to be in your shoes when his people see this 🙈

He played in another tent that night due to him doing a ridiculously long set. Remember it well because we left the Bedrock tent to go and catch him as Nick Warren had come on.

Mad_Cyril I don’t have a great recollection about any of the music played during his sets so I thought I’d just chuck a couple of anecdotes instead. 😉

He was definitely playing out a lot around that time.

Two gigs I definitely remember being mentioned (although I wasn’t there):
A marathon (10-hour?) set at Homelands. Think he had a tent/stage all to himself, was called the D10 or DTourism tent or something.
Mixmag raving about a set he played at the Miami Winter Music Conference, this was the first time I became really aware of him apparently being that good and known as ’the DJ’s DJ’, apparently Oakenfold and Cox seen having it, dancing on tables etc to his set.

      • -si- replied to this.

Will always contend that Bottom Heavy is his greatest record.

He hosted a tent at one of the Gatecrasher Summer Sound Systems I went to and absolutely smashed it.

        Danny T that is.

        Appreciate the feedback lads.
What I can make out so far is that DT was playing lots of gigs during this time (including some epic, marathon sets), yet because there’s so little info about any of them he was either the best on the scene as making sure nothing got out or talked about, or, they were actually really crap and no-one can be bothered to remember them in that much detail 😂

Didn’t make me want to fast forward, but no, not a fan.

That’s the one i mentioned dave, i read the same article you mentioned.

Oh come on! Be yourself is a great track!

Dan #shamelessplug played that on one of my recent mixes (Stay @ Home Mix 007) on Mixcloud, as bit of a tribute to Paradise Garage/Twilo 😉

Homegrove only negative about Be Yourself from me is that it’s too long. Gets a bit repetitive after the main breakdown, which most people mix out of after anyway.
Apart from that, it’s one of my favourites!
