Hi. It’s been a while. I’ve been a bit hogtied lately in terms of uploading new mixes to Mixcloud–primarily due to the the fact that if I wanted to upload a new mix to their servers after their most recent TOA update, I’d first have to delete a dozen or so of my previously uploaded mixes unless I signed up for their monthly paid hosting services.
Honestly, it’s not the fact that I’d be losing a dozen or so mixes to the netherwebs (because Mixcloud doesn’t offer a single option to download your own material!), but more the fact that artists are being pigeon-holed into obeying an ever-expanding set of rules that govern who can be seen and by how many depending on how much those artists pay to be seen.
Mixcloud was a great resource for lower-key DJ’s like me. I was never in this for the money since I started DJ’ing in the mid-90’s. I just wanted to get my sound out there and maybe make a few people enjoy the ride. Dollar hunters were obvious early on, but not to this extent.
