The best advice I can give is to not overthink it.

First decide on a machine. Do you want a pod machine, a bean to cup, a thermojet system, a machine with PID temperature control, a single boiler, a dual boiler, a heat exchange machine a prosumer machine or a lever machine.

Then decide on a grinder. Do you want a hand grinder, a blade grinder, a conical burr grinder, a flat burr grinder, a single doser or a hopper fed grinder, a stepped or stepless grinder, a grinder with a timer function or saving settings, or a commercial grinder.

Then what beans you want. Do you want light roast, dark roast, single origin, blended, organic, semi-decaffeinated, fully decaffeinated, washed or natural.

Once you’ve decided you’re good to go.

Smallman1 Don’t think Si’s got the capacity to overthink anything.

Lols for albert pouchstein.

Simply because the cut-and-thrust of the daily bants amuses me.

Looking for a bit of advice here lads.

My Mrs wants a Coffee machine. Neither of us are massive Coffee drinkers so aren’t really clued up on the subject. She’s been looking at those ones that take the little capsules. Are these any good? if so, are there any that you lot would recommend? cheers

Matt they’re really good if you’re doing a serious, peer reviewed analysis of how to make high quality coffee beans taste like shit.

bosstrabs Are they that bad? or just shit compared to one of those machines that cost a small fortune? I don’t mind shelling out for decent stuff when it’s going to be used, I know this fucking Coffee machine she’s decided she wants will probably see minimal use though.

If anyone can recommend an Entry-level coffee machine that isn’t shit It would be much appreciated.

Matt Personally, I would go for a French Press and spend the money left over on excellent coffee every time, rather than a pod machine.

I appreciate that your missus may want a machine for the aesthetic qualities and because women like to buy such things, though, and you won’t really have a choice in the matter.

I’ve got a Delonghi bean to cup machine that cost me less than £300. It does make good coffee but you could spend so much more. I’ve only had those coffee pods in customers houses and some of them have been pretty good.

Exactly. It’s pissing me off that I’m being made to look into this shit when I’m not remotely interested in it and won’t use it. I’m verging on just ordering her a year’s supply of Mellow Birds and a massive dildo.

              Matt
It’s a Delonghi caffe corso. I’ve had for a good few years now so I reckon they’ve upgraded the machine now.

Agree with Dave on the French press.
