If the guys using it properly knew how to operate Pioneer kit this wouldn’t have been a problem.

2 USB slots are available for sticks (like any pair of CDJs) and there is a slot for a Laptop round the back to work in Performance Mode - but most DJs shouldn’t have a need to do this on an XZ.

Whilst it was never designed for 2 laptops to be connected at the same time, one could have connected in Export mode to an ethernet port round the back and pressed REKORDBOX button on the XZ (where the laptop basically becomes a big USB stick and operates like any CDJ on the XZ or CDJ screen), and 1 could have gone in Performance mode round the back if they really must.

If everyone was on sticks it would have made it easier but I don’t get what their problem was other than not knowing what they were doing / this being their first time trying.

IndustryStandard Weird headphone monitor issue when using a USB with a laptop plugged in.

That sounds like either they hadn’t hit their respective Link / USB stick (on the screen) so the headphones knew which device to listen to (or they needed to download the XDJ-XZ driver on their laptop so the laptop didn’t know where the Headphone port was)

seanc80 XZ is for home use really, plugging multiple inputs into it for a gig is madness

I dunno like, if people know what they’re doing the XZ has more connectivity ports than the AZ which has been stripped back a little (losing Send and 2 of the 3 network ports). It’s similar to a DJM mixer round the back but with an inbuilt Network switch.

On the XZ we’ve run smaller events with CDJ-3000s, CDJ2000s, XDJ-1000mk2 linked by ethernet on channels 3 and 4, and I’ve gone back to back with someone where I’m on a USB stick and they’re on Rekordbox laptop and it just worked - but we knew what we were doing. I’ve used it in Room 2 in clubs, bars plenty of times and even at a small additional stage at a festival.

With the AZ you need your own network switch but it operates far better with CDJ-3000 (the waveforms / phrase meter appear across all devices - even if you put your USB into the CDJ - the whole graphic appears on the AZ as if it was a 3000).

It’s owned a lot by DJs practising at home but its 90% as capable as the mixer + CDJ range is at live events.

…the Isonoe fresh back from some factory lovin’

5 years old in January and still working faultlessly, but fancied switching to the new clear silver anodised faceplate, had the 1st gen original black/rubberised version- built for touring, extremely hard-wearing but complete fingerprint-magnet.

Love the 80’s hi-fi look, am keeping the black alloy side-cheeks as I think they look ace with the silver/black knobs. Faceplate replacement includes full rebuild and testing of all I/O. Justin at Isonoe recommended a few upgrades while he had it apart on the workbench to bring it up to latest spec.

Isonoe V2 to V5 VU meter upgrade- new meters shows peaks, making for accurate level setting for digital recording. Requires a completely new meter driver card and a complete strip-down. Peak meters are more useful for digital inputs as they clip abruptly when overloaded.

V5 Headphone Upgrade- lowers the overall headphone gain- level control much more accurate over the narrower range, noise lowered by a large margin.

mono-stereo …thats ’s what I figured, always tempted by shiny things, but when there’s an option to make the thing you’ve got more shiny… there’s nothing that’s surpassed it in sound quality or build anyway IMO

£65 for the upgrade. Bit cheeky considering (a) have already shelled out and bought Traktor in the past (b) im sure there was an upgrade fee too for version 3 and ('c) I own an S3 / X1 / Z1 so should have a hardware unlock anyway.

No wonder Traktor is a dying piece of software from a popularity perspective.

IndustryStandard I paid for the scratch upgrade a few years ago as I loved using the control cds. Solid set up which rarely played up. The control vinyl is another matter 😔

I only use Traktor as I have hardware that i can use easily at my desk to do a mix, rather than crank up my 5000s/Mixer/mac/monitors etc to record. Laziness in other words.

Ive used Traktor for years off and on and its a great piece of software, but the pricing/how its positioned itself has deteriorated. Shame

Mad_Cyril …took a look at that and may try the demo. Looks a nice easy way of planning mixes in a straightforward manner.

I never understood why Traktor never had this sort of option, for example a “mix” view where you could just lay out tracks in a timeline fashion for a mix or “Live” where you just DJ’d .

Unbroken1 great mixer but can’t help but think the market is saturated at this point. Who is this aimed at? Can’t see many clubs straying away from pioneer.

…I really like it. Totally different approach from the Elara.4, layout is MUCH more A&H with the 4-band EQ, assignable filters, and completely losing the ISO.

It’s almost like a super-deluxe Xone 92/96 customised by Andy R-J… feature-wise for me it’s pretty spot-on.
