The need for new speaker cables and some usb drives has slowed one down a little.

Also whilst looking at mixer output, looks like recording output is RCA. Assume this is pretty standard so what do folks do for recording from a proper mixer to a laptop?

…you can go two ways, get a digital audio recorder and just transfer files from that to the computer, or get an audio interface, RCA’s into that, USB into the computer, and record into the software of your choice (even Rekordbox itself if you like).

Interface also might be useful if you ever want to stream or dabble with production/edits etc.

Boring update.

Having a ****ing nightmare getting set up.

Mainly around speakers. Boss lady ok with mixer and Denons but speakers proving problematic.

All so far been big and ugly, as are the stands. Just received Adam T5V and also a bit big.

Fucking hate interweb shopping.

Any recommendation for speakers / stands that look nice and aren’t massive gratefully received 🙄

Mad_Cyril i stuck mine on wall brackets above head height but they are smallish monitors. Just bog standard Rokit RP5s. they are out of the way though up there.

…the Adam’s are probably the best in terms of bang-for-buck, and are relatively discrete looking as far as speakers go. If its the size of them that’s problematic, you might need to consider something different as the 5’s are the smallest in that range I think? the AX series do a 3″ but will be a fair bit more expensive.

Stands are generally fucking ugly and take up a fair bit of room space… as baggers suggested would it help to get them up to ear height and wall-mounted? You could even chase wires into the wall to take them look tidier if you can be arsed?

They aren’t much prettier but at least don’t take up so much floor space

Mad_Cyril It’s a bit of a pain in the arse getting decks and the like to look okay in a non studio room imo. I’ve been eyeballing one of these for a while, reckon it’s the perfect bit of interior camouflage.

Mad_Cyril If you’re battling her indoors about how they look, don’t be afraid to have a local cabinet maker look at something for you. Cheaper than you would imagine and you can have the whole thing fold / hide away etc.
