mono-stereo …this is why I don’t really understand why studio monitors have become ubiquitous for home DJ’ing, they aren’t necessarily the best tool for the job. There’s a lot to be said for a cracking pair of hi-fi speakers and a decent amp, and I imagine in a blind test that’s what a lot of people would go for. Look at some of the vintage systems that are revered today, old JBL’s, horn-loaded Klipsch’s etc. Tuned to replicate a very specific musical sound, the complete opposite of a flat-response monitor.
I love the concept of that Mastersounds Clarity system- appreciate it’s crazy-expensive, but I definitely think there’s a market for something similar and more affordable, a home system that replicates a proper ‘club’ sound.
