I know what you mean here. By the time I learned from 2013 onwards there was an internet full of lots of experienced opinion and a laptop / used CDJ DJ market I didn’t realise had exploded, but in the early 2000s hardly anyone was a DJ and even in the advent of CDJs, the DJs I saw mostly played on Vinyl so its you, your brain and your ears.
That’s why DJs we looked up to, many of them made these ‘mistakes’ occasionally - and you’d be almost non the wiser having the best night anyway.
When I make mistakes I try to remember the above and carry on. Sure, some DJs will notice, but the crowd just doesn’t care and wants you to move forward as you were.
You can get away with most things except for hitting the wrong Cue button (whheeeeEEEYYYYY!)
